Bruker Launches MyGenius PRO Automated Molecular Diagnostics System in Europe

The sample-to-answer system is based on PCR technology and enables higher throughput than its Bruker predecessor.

Bruker announced its European launch of the MyGenius PRO molecular diagnostics system, based on polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology. The announcement, in particular, comes from Bruker Corporation’s Microbiology & Infection Diagnostics division. Importantly, the system’s design focuses on infectious disease diagnostics.

Assays Included in MyGenius PRO

At launch, MyGenius PRO’s In Vitro Diagnostic Regulation (IVDR) menu includes assays for cytomegalovirus and Epstein-Barr virus from blood. An additional assay from urine is BK virus. Menu expansion including HIV, hepatitis B and C, and human herpesvirus 6 is planned throughout 2026.

These assays and sample matrices, Bruker says, help MyGenius PRO support diagnostic testing in immunocompromised patients.

The sample-to-answer (S2A) system is fully automated, allows for continuous loading of samples, consumables, and reagents, and supports random-access operation. Compared with Bruker’s medium-throughput BeGenius system, MyGenius PRO can perform higher throughput. However, like BeGenius, the new system automates the entire workflow, from patient samples to diagnostic results.

What the Diagnostics System Brings to Europe

Bruker says this enhances laboratory efficiency and supports needs for higher-volume testing. In a recent interview, Dr. Pierangelo Clerici, President of the Italian Association of Clinical Microbiologists, voiced such concerns.

“Timely diagnosis is critical in microbiology and virology,” Clerici said. “Fully automated sample-to-result solutions improve turnaround time and support faster clinical response and effective infection monitoring.”

Clerici added that streamlining lab workflows can help ensure regulatory compliance.

Bruker Helped by Hitachi

ELITechGroup, a Bruker company, and Hitachi High-Tech Corporation assisted in MyGenius PRO’s development. In fact, Hitachi High-Tech will introduce the system under the moniker Labospect GA-5 in Japan. This version of the system will still use Bruker molecular diagnostic assays, in accordance with Japanese regulations.

Bruker unveiled MyGenius PRO for Europe at the Congress of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ECSMID).
